This is the Murray Mouth, where the mighty river meets the sea, at Goolwa in South Australia. On close inspection you can see the depth of the water where the men are fishing, not much depth. To the left of the photo, is the Coorong.
SI of Adelaide took a full day excursion to the Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth, last Saturday, May 1st. Our guide was Ann Scutchings from Murray Bridge club, who is a local resident, one of those marvellous local people fighting for the survival of our river. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed an absolutely fabulous day. We learned so much about the river and the current issues. Not only that, it reinforced for me personally, that there is NO substitute, for the onsite visit, no matter how good the technology.
Another highlight of the day was the inspirational work being done by the children at Milang Primary School, saving the turtles in Lake Alexandrina. Just shows what dedication and hard work can achieve.
Full report to follow.

| New Vests | | | | Written by Pam Lacey | | Tuesday, 13 April 2010 |
Jane,Marrion, Lesley and Caroline show off the new vests
Soroptimist International of Adelaide Inc has been looking for some time for a way of promoting our organisation in an every day way. We found these warm, inexpensive, sleeveless vests and have had them embroidered with Soroptimist name/ a voice for women/ website details. Some other members in our region have also purchased them. They are warm as toast with plenty of room for another layer underneath. Deep pockets with zips and side toggles for adjustment.
Obviously the vests will only be suitable for wearing part of the year, but we think they are a good way to put Soroptimist International out in the public eye on a daily basis. Suitable we think for wearing out shopping or when we are in public as a group.
By the time I insert the next image, I'll have worked out how to centre it. I've tried to follow the instructions, but my knowledge gap is too big. However, I'm sure you get the idea. Thanks to the models for their agreement to model without prior warning.
Vests are available through Valerie Travers an Adelaide business selling corporateand industrial clothing. She is very happy to take orders for other clubs
Website: www.valerietravers.com.au. The vest is a Winning Spirit Vest PF02...$30 embroidered. I expect you'll have a postage cost,
Pam Lacey
