Under the auspices of Suria Bangsar South, our resource centre for the urban disadvantaged community of Bukit Kerichi, SI Bangsar held the first of related programmes under the theme, "Caring for The Young" on 2 April 2011 from 9.30 am to 11.30 am. The day's event was "Safe Milk Bottles for Babies". The target was to reach out to 150 kids using milk bottles. The mothers with children aged 2 years and below were invited to attend and were briefed on using BPA free bottles to feed their babies.
We were supported by our collaborating partners, UOA Group and Coronade Hotel Kuala Lumpur, UOA Group presented to each baby/child a hamper of 2 BPA free milk bottles and toiletries. Coronade Hotel gave each baby/child a goody bag and supplied a sumptious lunch for everyone..
The event allowed us to start a register of mothers and their children for us to plan future activities to improve their welfare.
Future topics will cover preparing for baby's arrival, breast-feeding, educating on growth and development of the baby, nutirtion and health issues and parenting.
