The situation in which grandparents are primary carers for their grandchildren is increasing, and now accounts for more than 1 per cent of families across Australia, and more than 30 000 children as stated in the Carers (Recognition) Amendment Bill 2010.

The title of “carer” is important to grandparents as it gives them recognition for the important work they do. These Bills have no payments attached in any way, but may help in faster delivery of services to grandparents

Soroptimist International Beenleigh members today launch their iniative to asisst women and girls to feel safe and happy in relationships.

"The Dating Game" bookmarks

these bookmarks have been designed to to picked up and placed quickly into a women's handbag,  they give tips on ending relationships where the women is being victimised, encouring women to say

 " NO "

to physical, sexual and emotional violence.

Assisting Victorian Fire VictimsPrintE-mail

Beenleigh Soroptimists like the rest of Australia wished to assist families in the fire ravaged areas of Victoria.

Target 10 - a project to assist with combating illiteracy for primary school children.  This project provides a library bag complete with 10 essential school items.

The club members wished to extend the Target 10 Project from local schools in the Beenleigh area to schools in the bush fire ravaged areas of Victoria.
