At the recent birthday dinner cheques for $1000 each were presented to representatives of two of the beneficiaries of our “Spirit of Christmas” function – Goulburn and District Early Intervention Unit and Abbeyfield Goulburn Community.  The latter will provide independent living for young people with disabilities. The other beneficiary is the Bourke St Health Service.  We have been approached to purchase a Wii package for aiding rehabilitation of the clients of the service.  We hope to add to the initial package after our next “Spirit of Christmas” in December. The “Spirit of Christmas” is a competition and exhibition  of Christmas Trees donated by local tree growers and decorated by children and community groups.  It is now in its 6th year.  “People’s Choice” Christmas Tree winners were Marulan Historical Society. A photo opportunity will be organised and printed in the Marulan insert of the Post for the Christmas In July issue. An Immunisation Chair has been bought by Goulburn Hospital from money provided by SI Goulburn Inc. A photo opportunity will be organised when the chair arrives. On the 8th March we had a stall at the International Women’s Day function at the Council Chambers and photo opportunities abounded and some made the Post.  Member, Senator Ursula Stephens gave the key-note address at the function. Goulburn members went to Canberra on 12th March for the Regional meeting. Anne Keene, attending her first Region meeting since becoming a member late last year, met Doreen Todd, the SI newsletter compiler and successfully nominated her as Regional Publicity Officer. A good contact to have indeed. She is anxious that we send lots of information regarding the work we do to the Newsletter, and I am happy to comply. Also on the day, Goulburn received a Highly Commended Award for our Rural Women’s Forums. I am awaiting a copy of the photo of President Sue accepting the award so we can publish. On Sunday 13th March, Helen Morgan and Anne Keene took up ‘residence’ at our stall on the Medlar Lawn at the Riversdale Vintage Fair. Our presence upped the club’s profile and presented many potential future opportunities. We made contacts with other stall-holders and potential guest speakers and were able to promote our ‘Mum’s and Bubs Forum’ and enlist one of our speakers, together with her six day old son!  We were also able to expand our guest list for “Sampling Soroptimists” evening, so a very pleasant and productive day. Regards, Anne Keene
