| For Crying Out Loud! |  |  | | Written by Lucy Cotton | | Wednesday, 14 October 2009 | Rockingham Soroptimists were crying for a cause during August this year as they cut and sliced their way through mounds of onions for their fundraising sausage sizzle held at Bunnings Port Kennedy. It was a bitterly cold and windy weeekend, but the girls kept on smiling and cooking those sausages and onions to feed hungry shoppers. Just over $1500 was raised which will be shared between World Vision, the 2009 SI President's Project to prevent human trafficking and the Soroptimist Disaster Relief Fund. |

We managed to raise a total of $2900 for this much needed cause to assist research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. | | Scholarships for Murdoch University students |  |  | | Written by Lucy Cotton | | Wednesday, 14 October 2009 | Soroptimist International Rockingham are pleased to have once again provided two scholarships valued at $1,000 each for local women attending Murdoch University Rockingham campus. The successful recipients for 2009 were Natalie Dobbs and Kelly Brewis each being first year students having undertaken the OnTrack Program. Our club wishes both recipients well in their future studies, and hopes to keep in touch in the future. |

| Theatre Night for Project Sierra |  |  | | Written by Lucy Cotton | | Wednesday, 29 July 2009 | | In June 2009 Soroptimist International of Rockingham hosted a local theatre production featuring the black comedy, 'Arsenic & Od Lace' which made for a night of entertainment as well as raising much needed funds for the Soroptimist International Quadrennial Project 2007-11 'Project Sierra'. $835 was raised as well as the evening providing an opportunity to inform local people of SI projects. |

Once again this year, members noted a number of people buying bears shared their own personal and family stories of children having been a past patient of the hospital and how much the service was valued. | | Read more... |
