Medi Reta has been a member or Soroptimist International Townsville for four years, while she has been studying for a PhD at James Cook University.
Medi left Townsville on 6th Octiober to return to PNG and a job based in Port Moresby.
Townsville Soroptimist farewelled Medi at a dinner on 26th October.
Soroptimist International Townsville has had a busy year. The club reporting form details the projects we have been involved in from September 1 2009 to August 31 2010. Projects include SISWP Best Practice project "Train the Trainer", distributing bras, providing resources for a remote school in the Solomon Islands, mentoring migrant women and many more projects. Soroptimist International of Townsville members are thrilled to have received a Best Practice Award for their project "Train the Trainer - Reproductive Health Workshop". This workshop trained indigenouswomen from PNG and the Solomon Islands who are currently residing in Townsville while studying at James Cook University.
A concert and morning tea was held at the Masonic Home for Australia Day.
