14 Years Inside - Working with Women in Prison. Speaker Lynn Dawson.

In 1999 Lynn established a Charitable Trust specifically to develop Reading, Writing and Literacy programmes at Mt Eden Women’s Prison in Auckland. This work culminated in the launch of the BOOKS IN PRISON TRUST in September of that year. The programme operated under the guardianship of the Charitable Trust with Lynn as Manager. She was responsible for the libraries and programmes of the BIPTrust to the correctional institutions for women in New Zealand. Staff and contracted tutors carried out the programmes on-site.

Lynn continues to advocate and support women coming out of prison and takes an interest in youth at risk and women in need of support. She is working towards establishing a support house for women and works in Community Development.
