- Integrity and democratic decision making

- Volunteering, diversity and friendship

Soroptimist International Bayside Inc

We are Bayside women of all ages, with a shared interest in the strength of our local community and the rights of women and girls everywhere.  We have our own unique campaigns, plus we collaborate with many existing not-for-profit organisations who are doing wonderful work to improve the lives of others. Our current Programme work focuses on:

  • addressing educational disadvantage - scholarships, provision of educational materials to the disadvantaged, mentoring
  • education on health issues affecting women - a public forum "Demystifying Menopause"
  • environment - with a serious focus on effective and efficient recycling
  • prevention of violence against women - rallies and vigils (Walk the Talk) and support for victims

Our annual events include an "International Women's Day Breakfast" (March) and our "Women's Voices Dinner" (October).  Both events celebrate women's achievements and explore the challenges that many women still face.

We also value advocacy as a powerful way to create positive change.  We are proud to use our collective voice to call for a fair and just society. Club members work closely with local indigenous Elders (through COOEE Indigenous Family and Community Education Centre) to address educational disadvantage and youth justice issues as well as supporting the rights of our First Nations peoples to self-determination. Our Bayside club will continue to support campaigns aimed at policy change, improved services and appropriate resourcing, especially where those changes are aligned with the Soroptimist International objectives.

We have a regular dinner meeting (4th Monday of each month) that is open to the public (RSVP required).  Guest speakers present on a wide range of topics connected to our vision/mission - these sessions are both informative and inspirational, and help us convert our sense of purpose into meaningful action.

We are involved in various other events throughout the year - visit our facebook page to follow our activities - https://www.facebook.com/SoroptimistInternationalBaysideInc/
