Do you want to get involved with Soroptimist International and the United Nations? Did you know that as a Soroptimists you are able to nominate for attendance at the Commission of the Status of Women (CSW).
CSW is the place to build consensus and commitment on policy actions to participate in workshops, forums and mix with over 6000 women from around the world.
Soroptimist International of South East Asia Pacific announce that Siti Aishah Hassan Hasri from Malaysia has been awarded the SISEAP CSW fully funded scholarship. Aishah will be joing President Christine Johnstone, Programme Convenor Dr Donnell Davis and Oyungerel Rentsen from Mongolia.
The sixty-eighth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 11 to 22 March 2024. Each year there is a Priority Theme and a Review Theme.
Priority theme: Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective
Review theme: Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls (agreed conclusions of the sixty-third session)

Soroptimist International Role
- SI has General Consultative Status with ECOSOC
- SI Europe, SI Great Britain and Ireland and SI South East Asia Pacific have Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC
- Consultative Status allows attendance at the higher level forums and the opportunity to address the governments in attendance
- SI also takes an active role in the side events. Panels on a particular theme enable us to share examples of our work.
- Attendance raises the visibility of SI, its mission and programme of service
- Soroptimists attending help to make our United Nations connection very tangible and significant
