SIWA Stella Giles Award 2017

Please join us with a glass of sparkling wine and a delicious high tea, to celebrate the presentation of the 2017 Stella Giles Award for Achievement. The biennial award recognises a Western Australian woman who has made a significant contribution to her chosen ­field. The Award of up to $10,000 will support the winner to undertake a project that will benefit women and girls and will be presented by the Governor of Western Australia, The Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC. Guest speaker for the event is The Honourable Simone McGurk MLA BA Minister for Child Protection, Women's Interests, Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence and Community. We will also be joined by singer/songwriter Kris Kingwell, who will open the event, and hear briefly from the winner of the Award about her project. There is also a bar on-site if you wish to purchase additional drinks. Special thanks goes to Kevin Mack of CT Design and Miles Morgan Australia for services provided in-kind as part of this award process.   We look forward to seeing you on the 16th of September for this celebration event. Farming in the School

On 12 May 2017, SI Bangsar met up with joint partners, Sentul Convent Secondary School for girls and a Social Enterprise, Eat, Shoots & Roots to plan the planting of eatable greens as a lifeskill for the urban girls. Due to the festive season of Eid, the planting will start late July. The project will be sustainable with enthusiatic support of the school and social enterprise partner. We plan to hand over the project to the school in two years' time.
